African Energy Resources 110km2 continuous coal seam at Sese
Investors have been eagerly anticipating drilling results from the African Energy Resources (ASX: AFR) Block-B at the Sese coal project in Botswana, and the company delivered.
African Energy has identified the average seam thickness in Block-B to be 15 metres, with easy extraction due to being near surface, with an average depth to the top of the seam just 38 metres.
The company said the shallow depth of the overburden and the thickness of the coal seam are very encouraging, offering very low strip ratios at potential sites for initial mining operations.
More importantly what this drilling actually identifies, along with drilling results from Block-A and Block-C, is a continuous coal seam over an area of 110 square kilometres.
These results could be just the beginning for Block-B as drilling will continue to the end of the month.
African Energy is forecast to deliver an initial Inferred Resource in April 2011.
