Rock Tech closes acquisition of Brandon Exploration, expands lithium property position in Quebec
Rock Tech Lithium (TSX-V: RCK; FSX: RJIA) said Thursday it has closed the previously announced all-share acquisition of Brandon Exploration, a private BC company that owns lithium exploration properties in Quebec.
In consideration for the deal, Rock Tech gave Brandon shareholders 4.0 million common shares of its company.
“This acquisition positions Rock Tech as one of the largest, if not the largest, lithium exploration claim holder in North America," said president and CEO of Rock Tech, Eunho Lee.
Brandon holds two lithium properties in Quebec, the first of which is the Lacorne property, which is comprised of 630 mineral claims covering 31,049 hectares in the Val d'Or region. The eastern claims of the property surround the Quebec Lithium project being developed by Canada Lithium Corp (TSX-V:CLQ).
According to Rock Tech, at least three historical pegmatite occurrences are located on the Lacorne property and are reported to contain beryl, columbite-tantalite crystals.
Brandon's second property consists of 376 mineral claims covering 19,826 hectares in the James Bay area of Quebec, adding to Rock Tech's Kapiwak Property located to the south of Lithium One's (TSX-V: LI) Cyr Lithium project. The newly acquired lands consist of two claim blocks, now known as the Kapiwak 2 and Kapiwak 3 properties.
The Kapiwak 2 lithium property consists of 120 claims located adjacent to the west of the Kapiwak 1 property originally acquired by the company in 2009.
The Kapiwak 3 lithium property consists of 256 claims, underlain by Eastmain greenstone belt which consists predominantly of amphibolite grade mafic to felsic metavolcanics, metasediments and minor gabbroic intrusions, the company said.
For the Kapiwak lithium properties, Rock Tech is planning to implement a phased exploration program of field geological mapping, ground geophysical surveys, trenching and diamond drilling.
