Robust Resources Limited (ASX: ROL) is a Sydney-based miner exploring for Gold-Silver and Base Metals on Romang Island in Indonesia’s richly endowed Banda Magmatic Arc, 650km northwest of Darwin.
Robust is exploring highly prospective ground previously explored by Biliton (1990s). An initial 2000m drilling program with the Lakuwahi Caldera Project has identified wide zones of gold-zinc-silver-lead-copper mineralisation. All holes completed in the first round of drilling by Robust were open in every direction and at depth.
Robust is accelerating its exploration program in the 2010 financial year with a target of 5000m to be drilled using owner-operated diamond drill rigs and a local labour force for continuing economic efficiency.
With experienced management who have a track record of major discoveries, Robust holds a 51% interest in five mineral titles totalling 25,000ha covering the entire Romang Island, with an option to increase to 75%.
Robust Resources intersects best ever polymetallic zone at Romang Island
Recent assay results from two diamond drillholes at Robust Resources' (ASX: ROL) Batu Mas prospects continue to confirm and extend precious metal mineralisation.
Drillhole LWD 106 returned the third strongest precious metal intersection and strongest polymetallic intersection so far at Batu Mas, located within the Lakuwahi Project area on Romang Island, Indonesia.
Results include:
- 51 metres at 2.90 g/t gold equivalent (1.51 g/t gold and 84 g/t gold) from surface; including 13 metres at 5.49 g/t Au Equivalent (2.95 g/t Au and 152 g/t Ag) from 14 metres;
- 130 metres @ 2.6% combined Zn+Pb+Cu from 46 metres; including 16 metres at 1.0% Cu from 46 metres.
Drillhole LWD 087 included 7 metres at 4.21 g/t gold equivalent (2.97 g/t gold and 74 g/t silver) from 21 metres.
With the results Robust is moving closer to defining a significant economic and commercially viable mineral resource base on Romang Island.
The results continue to confirm and expand the near-surface precious metal gold-silver plume at Lakuwahi and are in line with expectation.
This intersection will assist in defining a large-scale polymetallic project at Lakuwahi, and add to the exceptional metallurgical recovery results released two weeks ago.
Drillhole LWD106 was collared on the same line of section and 30 metres north of Robust’s record drill hole LWD051 which previously intersected 57.5 m at 6.75 g/t gold equivalent.
LWD106 intersected strong gold – silver mineralisation from surface to 51 metres downhole, confirming the extension of the mineralisation previously obtained in LWD051.
Directly beneath the precious metal zone, the hole intersected 130 metres of polymetallic mineralisation to the end of the hole at a depth of 176 metres.
This polymetallic zone is the strongest encountered during Robust’s drilling campaign on Romang Island and includes within it a 16 metre zone at 1% copper.
The southern portion of the Batu Mas Zone to the east is extended by this positive result, with mineralisation remaining open in this direction.
Underlying and partially overlapping the goldsilver zone is a 45 metre thick zone of polymetallic mineralisation.
Robust is moving towards the announcement of its maiden JORC Resource later in the current fiscal year, and plans to commence drilling in the highly prospective North Romang project area.
