Robust Resources Limited (ASX: ROL) is a Sydney-based miner exploring for Gold-Silver and Base Metals on Romang Island in Indonesia’s richly endowed Banda Magmatic Arc, 650km northwest of Darwin.
Robust is exploring highly prospective ground previously explored by Biliton (1990s). An initial 2000m drilling program with the Lakuwahi Caldera Project has identified wide zones of gold-zinc-silver-lead-copper mineralisation. All holes completed in the first round of drilling by Robust were open in every direction and at depth.
Robust is accelerating its exploration program in the 2010 financial year with a target of 5000m to be drilled using owner-operated diamond drill rigs and a local labour force for continuing economic efficiency.
With experienced management who have a track record of major discoveries, Robust holds a 51% interest in five mineral titles totalling 25,000ha covering the entire Romang Island, with an option to increase to 75%.
Robust Resources has strong precious and base metal recoveries at Romang Island
Initial sulphide metallurgical tests have returned exceptional recoveries of precious and base metals from the Robust Resources (ASX: ROL) Romang Island project, located in Indonesia.
In bulk concentrate tests, sulphide flotation tests returned recoveries which averaged; gold 84.3%, silver 93.0%, zinc 97.2%, lead 91.1% and copper 94.6%.
The economic viability of the project is based on the polymetallic sulphide mineralisation at Lakuwahi, and is largely dependent on the metallurgical properties of the feedstock.
The testwork completed so far by Robust confirms the simple mineralogy and good mineral liberation characteristics of the sulphide grains under an average grind size, which identifies the mineralisation as being highly amenable to flotation.
Robust is continuing testwork, which is designed to produce upgraded, differentiated, flotation concentrates, which have the potential to become commercial products for the market.
The testwork was conducted on composite samples drawn from drill core across the Lakuwahi Project, and is therefore the company largely considers representative of the polymetallic sulphide mineralisation.
Independent Metallurgical Operations is managing the program and Ammtec is performing the laboratory work.
In other Robust news, final assay results confirm the company has intersected some of the strongest base metal mineralisation so far on Romang Island, at the Batu Hitam
Prospect.
Significant near surface highlights include:
- 13 metres at 2.60 g/t gold equivalent (2.20 g/t gold and 24 g/t silver) from 8 metres; and
- 52 metres at 4.1% combined zinc lead copper from 81 metres, including 5 metres at 26.1% combined zinc lead copper from 121.4 metres.
Romang Island is located in one of the world's most mineralised and prospective domains, which currently hosts several world class gold and base metal deposits including Newmont's (NYSE: NEM) massive Batu Hijau containing; 920 million metric tonnes at 0.55% copper and 0.42 grams per tonne gold.
Article highlight:
With exceptional metallurgical recoveries in all base and precious metals, Robust moves a step closer to defining a significant economic and commercially viable mineral resource base on Romang Island.
