Rock Tech to Begin Exploration Program at Georgia Lake Lithium Project in Ontario
Rock Tech Lithium (TSX-V:RCK) said Thursday it will soon begin a 4,000 metre drill program on its Georgia Lake lithium and rare metals project in the Thunder Bay mining district of northwestern Ontario.
The company also said that it has hired independent consultants to carry out 3D modeling and Ni 43-101 compliant resource estimation on the property.
The 2010-2011 exploration program, which is due to begin in the first week of December, is based on the compilation of available historical exploration and geological data, which includes 33,000 metres of historical drilling carried out by past operators.
Rock Tech said that its program will look to confirm and expand the historical resource estimations on each claim block, by completing a total of 11,500 metres of diamond core drilling in approximately 45 drill holes, and by drilling in a select number of deeper holes to determine the continuity of dykes.
Initial field work to prepare for the upcoming program has already begun, including working towards obtaining permits for drill access roads and locating sites for bulk sampling.
The Georgia Lake project, which is comprised of four claim blocks covering 11,481 hectares, is accessible by Provincial Highway 11. It covers 25 of approximately 50 known lithium-bearing occurrences within the Georgia Lake area. The property has a historical resource estimate of 9.78 million tons at 1.18% lithium oxide, based on over 200 drill holes.
