African Energy (ASX:AFR) owns 100% of the Sese Coal and Power Project in northerm Botswana which has a defined near-surface coal deposit containing indicated resources in excess of 2.5 billion tonnes. The entire resource is amenable to low-cost open pit mining and can produce large tonnages of both domestic power station fuel amd washed coal for regional and export sales.
African Energy Resources in a trading halt pending capital raising announcement
A trading halt today has been granted by the ASX to African Energy Resources (ASX:AFR), pending an announcement of a capital raising.
It is not yet known where the funds will be allocated, but the company did commence drilling at the Sese coal project last week, based in Botswana.
The exploration target at Sese is; 1.0 to 1.5 billion tonnes of 4,000kcal/kg to 5,000kcal/kg thermal coal.
The program will comprise approximately 40 diamond drill holes drilled at 2km spacings to collect core for proximate analysis, with a further 90 RC percussion drill holes to infill to a 1km spaced grid.
