Rolls-Royce Holdings unveils new Pearl engine for Bombardier business jets

The new engines are said to be more powerful, quieter and provide better fuel economy

Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR. has unveiled a new family of engines for aviation business, purpose built for Bombardier's latest jets.

The Rolls-Royce Pearl engines are designed to be the state-of-the-art engine family for business aviation, the British engineering firm said in a statement.

It highlighted that the Pearl 15 engine will deliver up to 15,125lb of thrust and it will allow passengers to travel farther, faster, quicker and quieter.

According to Rolls-Royce, the engine deploys 9% more thrust than the competing BR700 engine, whilst it is 2 decibels quieter and it will provide a 7% improvement in specific fuel consumption.

“The Pearl engine is a pioneering product, bringing together the most eco-friendly and efficient technologies available today," said Chris Cholerton, Rolls Royce president for Civil Aerospace.

He added: "The combination of outstanding performance, economy, and reliability levels make it the perfect fit for Bombardier's newest Global aircraft and, with the Pearl engine, we are extending our successful relationship with Bombardier, which started more than 20 years ago.”
