Osisko and Clifton Star hit several wide intersections of gold at Duparquet Project
Clifton Star (TSX:CFO) and Osisko Mining (TSX:OSK) reported several wide intersections of gold mineralization from ongoing drilling at the Duparquet Project in Quebec.
Duparquet is situated in the highly prolific Abitibi Greenstone Belt, which stretches through Quebec and Ontario, and is already host to several world class gold mines.
Clifton Star’s much larger partner is earning a 50% interest in the Duparquet Project by expending CDN$78.5 million over a four year period and advancing $22 million to Clifton Star to meet option payments on the property.
Before entering into a joint venture with Osisko, Clifton Star had already defined a predominately indicated and inferred resource in excess of 2 million ounces of gold. Clearly Osisko Mining and Clifton Star are looking to add to this resource base considerably once this year’s drilling campaign is complete.
A significant portion of the budget has been directed at one of the largest drilling programs currently underway in Quebec, with ten drill rigs working away.
Results released today included assays from twenty six holes drilled earlier in 2010 as part of the current 66,000 meter Phase 1 drill program, which is nearing completion. Highlights of the drilling included 25.2 meters averaging 7.54 grams per tonne gold and 38 meters averaging 1.51 grams per tonne gold.
Investor`s can expect plenty of additional drill results from Osisko and Clifton Star as the current drill program comes to an end, and simultaneously a 21,000 meter, Phase II program gets underway.
Clifton Star and Osisko are planning to drill around 120,000 meters this year at various properties within the project, including Beattie, Donchester and Duquesne.
