European Uranium Resources Ltd. (EUU: TSX-V; TGP: Frankfurt) (formerly Tournigan Energy Ltd.) began trading as EUU on March 1, 2012. The company is well placed to become the key uranium exploration and development company in Europe. Europe is the world's largest per capita consumer of uranium with 160 operating reactors and more under construction or planned but with only one currently operating uranium mine, located in the Czech Republic.
Excellent uranium and molybdenum recovery test work boost Tournigan Energy
European focused uranium explorer and developer, Tournigan Energy (TSX-V:TVC) continued its impressive recent form, rallying this morning after the company reported additional metallurgical results from its Kuriskova Uranium Project in Slovakia.
The additional test work was completed on composites from areas drilling during the company`s 2009-2010 drill campaign.
The results indicated that recoveries in excess of 90% of the uranium and 85% of the molybdenum could be recovered by pressure oxidation using a whole ore leach process in two hours.
"These encouraging test results show that an alkaline leaching process using benign carbonate reagents (not sulphuric acid) can effectively recover both uranium and molybdenum from representative composite samples," said Dorian L. (Dusty) Nicol, Tournigan's president and CEO. "We are confident that the additional test work planned at Hazen will confirm the development of our flow sheet using alkaline leaching that has been used in the uranium industry since the 1960's."
The test work is being conducted to further optimize the best process of extracting the uranium and molybdenum from the ore, as will be used a part of a ongoing prefeasibility study.
Tournigan recently commenced a new, 4,500 meter drill program at Kuriskova focused on the high grade Zone 45 area.
While Kuriskova is currently Tournigan Energy`s key project, the company has a number of additional projects with Slovakia`s uranium belt.
Shares in the junior uranium developer climbed 8% on the news, and have more than doubled in recent weeks.
