Amur Minerals Corporation (LON:AMC) said it has completed construction of the 350km long ice road from the Ulak station, on the Baikal-Amur rail line, to its Kun-Manie project a week earlier than last year.

The AIM-listed mineral exploration company, focused on base metal projects in the far east of Russia, said that the ice road was completed on February 15 and nine vehicle convoys are now transporting the supplies to Kun-Manie, nickel sulphide deposit in Russia.

Two of the eight planned trips have been completed and fuel, supplies, spares and food for the upcoming season have already been delivered.

With the new ice road being the most cost-effective way to resupply company’s operation, Amur Minerals said it will be in a position to diamond-0core drill a planned 15,000 metres and undertake several site investigation studies.

Robin Young, the company's CEO, said: “Operating on a 24 hour a day cycle, seven days a week, we anticipate successful and complete resupply of the site.”

He concluded: “The resupply will allow us to finish up the majority of our site investigative work for moving the project forward to a final production decision and design.”

In late afternoon trading, Amur Minerals' shares were 7.5% higher at 5.3p.
