Dunelm PLC (LON:DNLM) has announced the appointment of a new chief executive, with Nick Wilkinson to join the homewares retailer with effect from 1 February 2018.
The FTSE 250-listed firm pointed out that Wilkinson has extensive retail experience across a number of consumer brands, most recently as chief executive of Evans Cycles, the UK's leading cycling specialist, a position he held for five years.
Prior to that Wilkinson was chief executive of Maxeda DIY, a Belgian and Dutch home improvement retailer, and also spent eight years with Dixons Retail, where he was Group Buying Director and MD of Currys.
Andy Harrison, Dunelm’s chairman, said: “We are confident that Nick's proven business leadership and track record will help us to deliver our ambitious plans for growth in market share and creation of substantial value for shareholders."
Dunelm’s previous chief executive, John Browett stepped down at the end of August, with immediate effect, for personal reasons.
Browett was appointed Dunelm’s chief executive in July 2015 after leaving as boss of high street retailer Monsoon. He was also previously senior vice-president of Apple’s retail division and chief executive of Dixons.
