Knick is engaged in exploring its flagship East-West property, located in the Val-d’Or Mining Camp along strike between the active Kiena mine (Wesdome Mining Ltd., TSX–WDO) and past gold producer Marban mine (Niogold Mining Corp., TSX.V-NOX). Most historical drilling has been limited to “shallow holes”, generally less than 200 m, and the Company is very excited about the property’s “blue sky” potential at mid-depth plus. A $1.1 million budget has been allocated for the 2009 exploration program on the East-West property.
Preparation for 10,000 meter drill program underway at Knick Exploration’s East-West Property
Knick Exploration (TSX-V:KNX) has started mechanical stripping at the company’s flagship East-West property ahead of a 10,000 meter diamond drill program.
The East-West property, located west of the town of Val-d’Or, consists of 7 staked claims covering 184 hectares and is only 2.5 km to the east is Wesdome Gold’s Kiena mine.
During the 2009 exploration season, Knick Exploration reported a number of encouraging intersects, including 1.45 meters averaging 10 grams per tonne gold, 0.95 meter grading 21 grams per tonne gold and equally high grade surface samples.
Drilling during 2009 was focused on a 85 meter strike which was exposed by mechanical stripping. Knick Exploration’s drilling confirmed mineralisation to a depth of 75 meters. Today the junior gold explorer confirmed that stripping had confirmed the gold bearing structure another 70 meters to the east, and in the direction of the historic east gold zone, where past exploration has returned exceptional gold grades over narrow widths, including 115 grams per tonne over 2.1 meters, 310 grams per tonne gold over 0.8 meter and 303 grams per tonne over 0.3 meter.
This year’s 10,000 meter program is designed to test the 150 meter zone between the historic East Gold Zone and last year’s drilling in the Eastern Area of the property.
“High grade gold values obtained from both surface and drilling gives us great expectations for the future of the East-West property,” Jacques Brunelle, President of Knick Exploration said, “...favorable land position, located among giants, has been the key of many successes and we intend to prove it on the East-West property.
