SNS Silver Corp reports further gold intercepts at Emerald Lake
SNS Silver Corp (TSX-V: SNS) has received additional assay results from the first part of its phase 1 diamond drilling program on the Emerald Lake property located 65km north-east of Sudbury, Ontario. So far, the program has consisted of 6,713 m of drilling in 30 holes, which have partially tested the extension of the property’s historical mineralization, as well as various geophysical targets, over a strike length of 750m.
There were several highlights from the recent drilling with interval widths ranging from 1.5 to 8 meters and containing grades between 1.12 and 18.45 grams per tonne (g/t) gold. Among the best intersections was GR09-33, which encountered 8m grading 1.25 from 1,020m and included the highest grade interval with 2m at 18.45g/t.
Additionally, GR09-32 cut 3m at 9.58g/t, GR09-09 had 3m grading 6.20g/t, and GR09-07 contained 1.5m grading 5.69g/t.
The company noted that additional samples have been recently cut and submitted to SGS Laboratories. The results will be made available once assays have been received and approved by SNS's technical staff.
Looking ahead the company told investors that it has approved a 2010 surface program, to begin immediately, which will consist of line cutting, geological mapping, prospecting, and geophysics.
The geological mapping and prospecting will focus on the eastern portion of the property where several known historical gold occurences have been reported. Geophysics will include modelling and a down-hole IP survey to define drill targets for an upcoming drill program scheduled to commence in August 2010.
The company’s primary asset is the wholly-owned Crescent Mine, located in Kellogg, Idaho. The past producing silver mine lies in the Coeur d'Alene mining district, which is the only known district in North America to have produced over one billion ounces of silver.
The Crescent property consists of 24 patented mining claims over approximately 350 acres, alongside 40 acres of surface rights.
