At the Garnet target, tungsten mineralisation was sufficient for Thor to start to prepare an initial maiden resource.
There were also strong zinc shows in the six holes not reported in exploration by previous owner Union Carbide.
Best tungsten (WO3)/zinc (Zn) grades in the deeper holes were 3.8m at 0.72%WO3 and 1.6%Zn from 45.0m, and 5.3m at 1.0%WO3, 0.9%Zn from 83.1m.
At Desert Scheelite, another target, Thor also confirmed a significant extension to the east, with higher grade targets lying deeper..
Parallel lodes to the north of Desert Scheelite are also possible and would be consistent with the known multiple lodes at the other Pilot Mountain deposits, said Thor.
Mick Billing, Thor’s executive chairman, added these were very significant results for Pilot Mountain.
“From here we will commission the preparation of a maiden resource estimate for the Garnet deposit, building upon the existing Pilot Mountain resource inventory.
"At Desert Scheelite we have extended the known mineralisation to the east, and have exciting targets for higher grade eastern extensions at depth along with potential for parallel zones immediately to the north."
