Amur wants to prove up more nickel at Kun-Manie

Amur Minerals Corporation PLC (LON:AMC) will exploration drilling this year on the Ikenskoe/Sobolevsky (IKEN) and Kubuk (KUB) target at its Kun-Manie nickel prospect in Russia.

A total of 15,000 metres of in-fill and step out holes are planned, though Amur has enough supplies in place to drill 20,000m.

At KUB, Amur will drill 10,000 metres to convert a 10.9mln tonne inferred resource block to the more certain Indicated category.

Averaging 0.73% nickel and 0.20% copper, total nickel tonnes are projected to be 80,700 with the total copper tonnage at 21,800.

At IKEN, 5,000 metres of resource expansion drilling will be taken towards Kubuk deposit, which is 3km to the east.

Kun-Manie is a sulphide nickel and copper project located in Amur Oblast, in Russia’s far east.

So far, most of the exploration at Kun-Manie has focused on the Maly Kurumkon / Flangovy deposit, but here the emphasis has shifted to mine and plant design with new equipment to brought in to identify water sources.

“The newly acquired equipment will allow us to locate the needed sources of water for use in the treatment of our ores, identify potable water sources, and identify the mine dewatering requirements at the Maly Kurumkon / Flangovy deposit which will likely be the first deposit to be mined," said Robin Young, chief executive.

"As we advance the project, we have begun to shift from resource drilling to a more focused site engineering effort.

“We will continue our exploration drilling intended to convert as much as 50% of the presently defined Inferred resource to Indicated and evaluate the potential for resource expansion at and between Ikenskoe / Sobolevsky and Kubuk where a large untested three kilometre long target exists. “
