Perhaps it is time to rethink those likes from 2007

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is seemingly gunning for LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) with its latest rollout of services, targeting the job market.

Mark Zuckerberg’s social network is planning to let employers advertise jobs for free and allow job seekers to apply for roles directly via Facebook.

It is reported that job applications can be prepopulated with information taken from Facebook profiles – so perhaps it is time for everyone to rethink those ‘likes’ from back in 2007.

The social network would reportedly also seek to embed its messenger software into the recruitment process once the job applications have been made.

It presents a threat to LinkedIn which charges companies to list job opportunities, and Facebook offers access to a larger audience - around 1.86bn versus 450mln accounts.
