Knick is engaged in exploring its flagship East-West property, located in the Val-d’Or Mining Camp along strike between the active Kiena mine (Wesdome Mining Ltd., TSX–WDO) and past gold producer Marban mine (Niogold Mining Corp., TSX.V-NOX). Most historical drilling has been limited to “shallow holes”, generally less than 200 m, and the Company is very excited about the property’s “blue sky” potential at mid-depth plus. A $1.1 million budget has been allocated for the 2009 exploration program on the East-West property.
Knick Exploration sees gold deposit potential on east part of East-West property in Val d’Or
Knick Exploration Inc (TSX-V: KNX) is nearing the completion of its target selection process for the phase II diamond drill program on the East-West gold property. Based the processing of merged, 2009 and historic gold data, Knick believes there is a deposit potential on the east part of the property.
The company’s flagship East-West property is located in the Val-d’Or Mining Camp in Quebec, along strike between Wesdome Mining’s (TSX: DO) active Kiena mine and Niogold Mining’s (TSX-V: NOX) past gold producing Marban mine.
According to Knick, the "new gold area" has been exposed at surface by mechanical stripping and drill traced to 150m vertical depth. The East Zone, which is situated approximately 150m east of the "new gold" area, was traced from approximately 15m to a 250m vertical depth.
The 150m gap and deeper depths are being targeted for infill drilling to potentially prove up a +300m strike and a continuing vertical continuity with deeper depths in the gold system.
The 2009 drill core gold intersections from the "new gold area" 2009 include 10.08 grams per tonne (gpt) over 1.45m, 21.59gpt over 0.95m and 37.13gpt over 0.30m and surface samples of 26.67gpt over 0.90m and 38.26gpt over 0.50m
“As we prepare for the next drilling campaign in the east gold area of the property, investors are invited to look at the surface discovery map and longitudinal sections which clearly demonstrate the high potential on either side and at depth”.
“With this many high grade gold values, the area continues to prove itself worthy of further exploration”.
Knick noted that the gold results from its 2009 surface channel and drill core sampling on the newly discovered gold area have been plotted, and the historic East Zone drilling data has been tied in and integrated to the data base.
The historic East Zone gold highlights include 115.07 grams per tonne (gpt) over 2.10m, 310.96gpt over 0.80m and 303.77gpt over 0.30m.
