Rubicon Minerals Corporation (TSX:RMX | NYSE.AMEX:RBY) is a well-funded, top tier, gold exploration company deriving its strength from a hands-on management team with a track record of discovery. Rubicon controls over 65,000 acres of prime exploration ground in the prolific, high-grade Red Lake gold camp of Ontario, Canada, which hosts Goldcorp's world class Red Lake Mine and where in early 2008, Rubicon made the significant F2 Zone discovery at its Phoenix Gold Project. With an exceptional technical team, outstanding assets, a focus on gold camps in politically safe environments and a high profile in the capital markets, Rubicon Minerals has gained the reputation as a leading junior exploration company.
Rubicon Minerals continues to expand understanding of F2 Gold System at Phoenix Gold Project
Rubicon Minerals (TSX:RMX, AMEX:RBY) aggressive drilling program at the F2 Gold System is clearly paying dividends. Rubicon Minerals controls over 65,000 acres of exploration ground in the Red Lake gold district, Ontario, Canada, and to date has continued to expand and upgrade the gold resource at its 100% owned Phoenix Gold Project.
Today was more of the same from Rubicon; continued drilling success and additional extensions to the known depth of mineralization at the F2 Gold System. Rubicon has already completed 108,500 meters of drilling on the system, and is planning to complete 158,000 meters in the current drill program, which is largely focused on infill drilling a 1200 meter by 1600 meter target area.
Rubicon reported results on a number of fronts. First, in the Southern Extension Area, drilling continued to intersect a wide gold zone that is open both along strike to the south and at depth. Drill hole 122-46B cut an impressive 12.7 meters grading 9.3 grams per tonne, including a higher grade section of 0.5 meters at 127.9 grams per tonne gold.
Meanwhile at the Central Area of the F2 Gold System, drill hole 122-43 extended the depth of gold 600 meters below the main area of drilling. The hole intersected 3.5 meters averaging 23.1 grams per tonne gold, which included a high grade 1 meter section grading 74.5 grams per tonne gold.
At the West Limb Area, drilling continued to confirm the presence of broad zones of gold. Surface drill hole F2-85 returned 17 meters averaging 4.5 grams per tonne gold, including 1.1 meter grading 41.6 grams per tonne gold. Drill hole F2-85 was collared to the west and parallel to the core, and south-western target areas.
"Our drilling success rate to date is a reflection of our emerging understanding of the geological continuity of the gold system as represented by the level plans we are releasing today. Based on our experience, gained from over 108,000 metres of drilling, we plan to continue expanding the system limits as well as carry out delineation drilling as our 158,000 metre drill program continues" said David Adamson, President and CEO.
