Connemara Mining Company plc was established in 2006 by veterans of the Irish zinc industry to exploit zinc opportunities in Ireland and currently holds 38 prospecting licences in central and south-west Ireland. Connemara’s licences are for some or all of the base metals (Bm), barite (b), gold (g), silver (s), and platinum group elements (PGE). The Connemara exploration philosophy is trendology and closeology - follow the mineralised trends and obtain ground as close as possible to existing or former zinc/lead mines.

Connemara Minings latest Stonepark North results suggest presence of a continuous zinc-lead zone

2nd Mar 2010, 10:03 am Connemara Minings latest Stonepark North results suggest presence of a continuous zinc-lead zone

Connemara Mining (AIM: CON) has intersected high grade zinc-lead mineralisation in another drill hole at the Stonepark North zone located in Limerick, Ireland. The company said the latest results suggest the presence of a continuous zone of zinc-lead mineralisation, at a depth of approximately 200-220m. At Stonepark, Hole 36 intersected 5.35m at 13.2% zinc and 3.2% lead from a depth of 202.7m.

"The Stonepark zinc discovery in Limerick looks to have serious potential. Mineralisation in the holes is relatively shallow and there is growing evidence of a continuous zone of zinc-lead mineralisation, Connemara Mining chairman John Teeling commented. Though still an exploration project, the Stonepark discoveries, when allied to the adjacent Pallas Green discoveries, mean that we are hopeful that the next world class zinc mine in Ireland will be in the area".

Hole 36 is the seventh hole at Stonepark North, located 100m north of drill hole 32 and 180m north of drill hole 26, both of which intersected significant zinc-lead mineralization at similar depths. According to Connemara the zone is still open in a number of directions.

The latest high grade zone occurred at the base of a thick interval of hydrothermal black matrix breccias, also containing additional lower grade disseminated zinc-lead mineralisation. This overall interval has a grade of 4.67% zinc and 1.04% lead over a 21.25m interval from a depth of 186.8m.

Connemara said that Stonepark North is located approximately 2km north of Connemara's original discovery at Stonepark and it appears to represent the shallower, up-dip end of the large mineralizing system.

Drilling is being co-funded 75 percent by operator Teck Resources (TSX, NYSE: TCK; formerly Teck Cominco) and 25 percent by Connemara. The immediate exploration plan is to find more zones. The target is to define the overall size of the mineralised system and then drill out individual zones.

Apart from Limerick, where Connemara holds sixteen licences in joint venture with Teck Resources, and the five licences at Lough Sheelin on the Meath/Cavan border, it has highly prospective ground in Thurles, Moate and Nenagh.

The 2010 drilling programme is currently ongoing with two rigs on site, the work schedule will comprise approximately 10,000m of diamond drilling. One of the main objectives of the 2010 drilling campaign will be to conduct further infill drilling to identify the extent and continuity of high grades and thicknesses of zinc-lead mineralisation within the 2km zone.
