Aureus Mining Inc (LON:AUE) has received the sign-off from Liberia’s Ministry of Lands, Mines and Energy for the restart of work at the New Liberty gold processing plant.

It follows an intensive period of modification and optimisation overseen by Maelgwyn Mineral Services Africa.

Specifically, the Aureus team has installed a larger gravity screen with the aim of optimising performance and increasing recovery rates.

The detoxification circuit has been upgraded and reagent dosing optimised, while “operational changes” have been made to the tailings storage facility to increase tailings water retention time.

At the same time a full ball mill reline and lifter upgrade has been carried out.

Mining continued while the plant was offline, which means there is a 122,000-tonne stockpile of ore grading 3.88 grams per tonne.
