Sound Energy PLC (LON:SOU) has told investors that the Nervesa gas well is expected to be shut-in so that remedial work can be carried out.
The company said a second static profile assessment of the Nervesa reservoir has been carried out, and this work confirmed a reducing reservoir pressure in the well which is believed to indicate that not all reservoirs are in production.
It is now intended that a remedial perforations will target selected layers of the reservoir.
Additionally, the company said it will also evaluate the possibility of a potential updip sidetrack of the well.
Sound separately announced that drilling operations in the Tendrara well, onshore Morocco, have now reached a depth of 1,316 metres, which was the second casing point, and it will now proceed to the third and final casing point – which will be directly above the well’s anticipated reservoir.
Tendrara is a potentially significant play for Sound with current resource estimates suggesting 310.5Bcf (51.8MMboe) recoverable gross contingent resources and 145.8MMboe of prospective resources.
Last week, Sound told investors that it had received the final drilling permission for the proposed Badile exploration well from the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.
It positions the company to fulfil plans to drill the Badile exploration prospect during 2016, the company said.
Badile is targeting 178bn cubic feet of gas that carries a net present value of 486mln euros – so success would move the dial for Sound. In terms of nearology, the project is well placed. It is next door to ENI’s Gaggiano operation and a short drive from the Villafortuna-Trecate and Malossa fields.
