Ariana is an AIM-listed and PLUS-traded gold exploration and development company which aims to develop new gold mines in Turkey. Ariana is lead by an experienced board and is spearheaded by a focused Turkish management team. Current resources stand at approximately 400,000 ounces of gold in western Turkey, with two key projects under development: the high-grade Kiziltepe prospect and the heap-leachable Tavsan prospect. An exploration joint venture with European Goldfields (20% shareholders in Ariana) in northeastern Turkey is focused on the Ardala copper-gold porphyry and surrounding areas. Ariana holds a large and prospective licence portfolio from which a pipeline of new exploration targets is being generated for drill-testing utilizing an ‘in-house’ drilling team. Exploration and development success is being delivered via a strategy which integrates geoscientific knowledge and new technologies to identify and advance prospects for drill-testing. Ariana aims to develop a portfolio of licences in western Turkey which contain an aggregate of one million ounces of gold; a target which it is already on the way to achieving.
Ariana Resources reports high grade trenching results from Salinbas prospect at Ardala
Turkey focused gold miner Ariana Resources (AIM: AAU) has announced the results of trenching programme undertaken on the Salinbas prospect, which returned high grade bedrock intercepts.
The trenching results included intervals of 33m (metres) graded at 9.6 g/t (grammes per tonne) Au (gold), 46m at 8.3 g/t Au, 14m at 7.3 g/t Au and 26m at 5.4 g/t Au. The company said there was further potential along strike and at depth.
"The results of the initial trenches undertaken on the Salinbas prospect highlight the potential of the broader Ardala mineral system to yield multiple zones of high-grade mineralisation located along discrete structural corridors which had been overlooked by previous explorers. The joint venture team has been successful in identifying these zones and in conducting a rapid and successful programme of follow-up,” said Managing Director of Ariana Resources Kerim Sener.
Drilling of the trench zone and at Ardala South is currently underway with results of these programmes pending. Mapping and sampling at the Ardala project has confirmed that porphyry mineralisation continues to the south of the previously recognized crops, increasing the size potential of the Ardala system.
Rock-chip samples takes from the Salinbas discovery included 16.4 g/t Au and 18.4 g/t Au in gossaniferous breccia and 1.92 g/t Au in porphyry and 0.4 g/t Auin skarn. The Salinbas target is just 1 kilometre away from the area drilled in 1990s at the Ardala project, when an outline (non-JORC) resource of 20Mt (million tonnes) at an average grade of 0.25% Cu (copper), 0.45 g/t Au and 65 ppm (parts per million) Mo (molybdenum) was established.
