Lateegra Gold (CVE:LRG) said Monday it has begun exploration drilling on its Beschefer property in Quebec.
The drill program, consisting of two thousand metres in six holes, will follow up on historic intercepts by previous operators of the property. It will also test trends indicated by the company's recent geophysical survey.
The Beschefer property consists of 33 claims covering 5.3 square kilometres. It is located 10 kilometres east of the Selbaie Mine, which previously produced 56.5 million tonnes grading 0.56 g/t gold, 38.1 g/t silver, 0.87% copper, and 1.85% zinc.
Drill results from the project's B-14 zone from previous operators include 10.27 g/t gold over 8 metres in hole B14-35, and 4.46 g/t gold over 10 metres in hole SBJ-06-01.
Gold mineralization in the B-14 Zone as well as elsewhere on the Beschefer property is hosted by hematized, sericitized, and silicified volcanic rocks.
Since the acquisition of the Beschefer property last month, Lateegra said it has completed line cutting, induced polarization, and ground magnetometer surveying. A 3D geological compilation of the project is also in progress, the company added.
