Thundelarra (ASX:THX) is currently planning exploration programs for its Red Bore and Curara Well projects in Western Australia’s Doolgunna region.

The company has identified a number of magnetic anomalies from a low-level aeromagnetic survey over both project areas.

Both projects are located close to the processing plant at Sandfire Resources (ASX:SFR) operating DeGrussa copper-gold mine.

Apart from Sandfire’s DeGrussa discovery, Thundelarra is the only company to have intersected significant copper-gold-silver mineralisation in the district.

Some of the anomalies discovered by Thundelarra are new while others provide further confirmation of targets previously identified.

Several Audio Magneto-Telluric survey lines have also been completed.

Current and Future Activity

Thundelarra’s advanced conceptual model for Curara Well has also been enhanced by the recent geophysics.

Field work is currently underway in the form of “ground truthing”, which involves geological mapping, surface sampling and hand-held XRF analyses of material at the anomalies identified by the geophysical surveys.

The company intends to follow up with an aggressive programme of air core and, where appropriate, deeper reverse circulation drilling of the targets identified.

At Red Bore, the company is planning a reverse circulation drilling program to test down-plunge extensions and to follow the mineralised “pipes” identified at Gossan Prospect.

Drilling will also be used to gain a better understanding of the mineralisation found at Impaler; and to further test unexplained magnetic anomalies identified to date.

Its shallow high grade intercepts contain the primary copper sulphide mineral chalcopyrite, the presence of which is highly significant as a pathfinder in the search for deeper sulphide deposits representing volcanogenic mineralisation.

The company is addressing the matter of statutory access through the prescribed approval process.

Its forward plans are based on drilling getting under way by late April / early May.

Previous Work

In February, drilling delivered high grade, broad widths of copper mineralisation from Red Bore.

Highlights include:

- 21 metres at 5.3% copper, 1.2g/t gold, 7.0g/t silver from 50 metres in hole TRBC077;
- 68 metres at 1.9% copper, 1.0g/t gold, 3.8g/t silver from 26 metres in hole TRBC080, including 7 metres at 5.0% copper, 0.5g/t gold and 10.8g/t silver from 87 metres; and
- 5 metres at 10.4% copper, 0.50g/t gold, 11.0g/t silver from 59 metres in hole TRBC081.

Mineralisation is still open at depth below 94 metres vertical from surface.

Analysis

Thundelarra is gearing up to continue exploration at its Red Bore and Curara Well projects. It should be reminded that as far as is known Thundelarra is the only company to have intersected significant copper-gold-silver mineralisation in the district ignited by Sandfire’s DeGrussa discovery.

This will be an exciting program developing for Thundelarra and is worth watching it take shape.

Field work is ongoing at Curara Well which involves geological mapping, surface sampling and hand-held XRF analyses of material at the anomalies identified by the geophysical surveys.

Then air core drilling and then deeper Reverse Circulation drilling of the targets identified at Curara Well.

While at Red Bore a programme of RC drill holes will be designed to test down-plunge extensions and to follow the mineralised “pipes” identified at the Gossan Prospect.

Thundelarra is also fully funded for 2015 exploration program at Red Bore and Curara Well with $6.45 million in cash as at 31st December 2014 providing fuel for the exploration program ahead.
