Below are some of the main news-driven share price changes at the close.

RISERS

Tristel (LON:TSTL), up 11%. Its been a rough week for the shares after Wednesday's trading update, but the directors have done the old trick of wading in to buy the shares to boost the share price.

North River Resources (LON:NRRP), up 11%. The company has notified the Ministry of Mines and Energy in Namibia of its acceptance of the Notice of Preparedness to grant the mining licence for the Namib lead-zinc project within the prescribed thirty day period from the date of the notice.

Amara Mining (LON:AMA), up 9.9%. The company said the optimised pre-feasibility study for its Yaoure asset confirms it “is a compelling gold development project in the current capital constrained market environment”.

FALLERS

Herencia Resources (LON:HER) down 20% to 0.02p. Short term loan worth £50,000 to copper explorer from shareholder Lind partners convertible at £0.0001.

Galantas Gold (LON:GAL) down 14% to 4p. Mining of its new Kestrel vein in Omagh may not be included in planning permission. If commercial, Kestrel would be worked from nearby Joshua vein and planning permission sought said gold group.

Elephant Capital (LON:ECAP) down 7% to 14p. Company intends to delist from AIM as part of the winding down of its investment business.

RISERS

Weir Group (LON:WEIR), up 6.4%. The engineering group was hammered yesterday after its results, but the bargain hunters have chased the shares back up today.

Pearson (LON:PSON), up 5.7%. The educational publisher edged up its dividend by 2% to 52p but said it plans to keep it at this level to rebuild earnings cover.

Burberry (LON:BRBY), up 5.9%. Nomura upgraded the fashion firm to 'buy' from 'hold' and nudged the price target up to 1,500p from 1,450p.

FALLERS

Royal Bank of Scotland (LON:RBS), down 8.2%. Eight years of losses now for the government-owned lender, and the market still can't get used to it yet by the looks of things.

Sports Direct International (LON:SPD), down 1.8%. Shares dropped 2.6% on Friday as it announced it would shun a credit-line provided by majority shareholder Mike Ashley.

William Hill (LON:WMH), down 1.2%. The bookie's profits slumped as the tax-man cracked down last year, though that did not stop the company from announcing a share buy-back programme.

RISERS

Thor Mining (LON:THR, ASX:THR), up 33%. The company has trousered A$2mln, being the first payment from the sale of its Spring Hill gold project for A$3.5mln.

Patagonia Gold (LON:PGD), up 22%. At Cap-Oeste, an initial open pit has been designed with a 24 month mine life, with the option to increase this to six years with the development of the two underground projects.

MX Oil (LON:MXO), up 12%. The company has agreed terms for the sale of its investment in the Aje Field offshore Nigeria to GEC Petroleum Development Company.

FALLERS

Petroceltic (LON:PCI), down 36%. Petroceltic's largest shareholder Worldview has made a low-ball takeover offer worth 3p a share. Petroceltic's shares slumped 6.5p to 11.5p.

Auhua Clean Energy (LON:ACE), down 28%. Trading in the company's shares will be suspended as from Monday as the company has not yet appointed a replacement nominated adviser (Nomad) for Grant Thornton, which has quit the role.

Blue Star (LON:BLU), down 23%. The shares dipped to 0.12p after the technology-focused investment company issued shares at 0.125p, raising £20,000.
