Rock Tech Lithium (CVE:RCK) unveiled Wednesday the remaining drill results from the second phase of its exploration program at the company's Georgia Lake lithium project in Ontario.

The results reported Wednesday are from seven holes drilled on the spodumene-pegmatite dyke, located on the Nama Creek claim block, the company said.

The aim of the second phase of the program was to add new resources to the NI 43-101 compliant estimate announced in October last year, of 2.36 million indicated tonnes of 1.17% lithium oxide (Li2O) and 4.36 million inferred tonnes of 1.08% Li2O.

The resource estimate was based on the spodumene-bearing pegmatite dykes located on the Nama Creek and Conway claim blocks.

Highlights of the latest drill results include 1.20% Li2O over 8.84 metres, 1.11% Li2O over 3.10 metres, and 0.82% Li2O over 1.0 metres in drill hole NC-11-23.

Drill hole NC-11-24 intersected 1.44% Li2O over 4.57 metres, 0.81% Li2O over 2.70 metres, 1.33% Li2O over 2.0 metres and 0.79% Li2O over 2.0 metres.

Other notable results included 1.44% Li2O over 5.83 metres, 1.11% Li2O over 3.14 metres, 0.70% Li2O over 1.58 metres, 1.70% Li2O over 1.0 metres, and 1.53% Li2O over 0.84 metres in drill hole NC-11-25.

In addition, hole NC-11-27 encountered 1.22% Li2O over 5.77 metres and 1.25% Li2O over 1.0 metres, while hole NC-11-28 hit 1.30% Li2O over 2.0 metres, 1.45% Li2O over 1.58 metres and 1.50% Li2O over 1.07 metres.

Finally, hole NC-11-29 returned 1.09% Li2O over 6.0 metres, 1.17% Li2O over 4.0 metres and 1.18% Li2O over 2.51 metres.

"With the complete set of assay results from Phase 2 of our exploration program received from the lab, we now look forward to an updated NI 43-101 compliant resource estimation from Caracle Creek International Consulting," said president and CEO, Eunho Lee.

"These results, in conjunction with the positive metallurgy, excellent infrastructure and a strong, mutually beneficial working relationship with the local First Nations, reaffirm our confidence in the potential of our Georgia Lake lithium project."

The company said that the second phase drilling also found anomalous values of rare metals, including rubidium, beryllium, cesium, niobium and tantalum.

The program consisted of 4,608 metres of diamond drilling over eighteen drill holes in addition to sixteen channel samples, testing pegmatite dykes located on the Nama Creek, Conway and Newkirk claim blocks.

Rock Tech has already reported very high purity levels from the property earlier this year. In late September last year, the company achieved a purity level of 99.988% lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) from a bulk sample. Battery manufacturers require a purity level of at least 99.5% Li2CO3.

Besides the battery industry, lithium has many uses, including heat-resistant glass and ceramics, casting for HVAC products, additives for greases and oil products, aluminum production, and as a pharmaceutical mood stabilizer.

The Georgia Lake lithium property, located some 145 kilometers northeast of the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario, consists of four claim blocks covering 11,481 hectares.

Rock Tech drills 1.25% lithium oxide over 8.66 metres at Georgia Lake

Rock Tech Lithium (CVE:RCK) announced Monday the first set of assay results from its phase two exploration program at its Georgia Lake lithium project in Ontario, designed to expand the maiden NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate at the site.

Currently, the property hosts indicated resources of 2.36 million tonnes grading 1.17% lithium oxide (Li2O) and 4.36 million inferred tonnes grading 1.08% Li2O. The resource estimate, based on the spodumene-bearing pegmatite dykes located on the Nama Creek and Conway claim blocks, was released in late October.

Highlights of the latest drill results include 1.40% Li2O over 5.02 metres, 0.95% Li2O over 3.91 metres and 0.94% Li2O over 7 metres in drill hole NC-11-15; and 1.47% Li2O over 2.32 metres, 1.05% Li2O over 4.83 metres and three other mineralized intersections in drill hole NC-11-16.

In addition, hole NC-11-18 intersected 1.25% Li2O over 8.66 metres, while hole NC-11-19 returned 1.15% Li2O over 6.69 metres.

Meanwhile, two intersections of 5.00 metres each, with grades of 1.61% Li2O and 1.27% Li2O, respectively, were found in hole NC-11-22, along with two other mineralized intersections.

The company said that additional anomalous values of lithium oxide and rare metals, including rubidium, beryllium, cesium, niobium and tantalum, were also found.

“We are very pleased with the first set of assay results as they confirm the validity of the historical drill holes and show the continuity of lithium mineralization at depth," said president and CEO, Eunho Lee.

"The development of our Georgia Lake lithium project is progressing as planned as we recently completed over 4,000 metres of drilling. We will be releasing additional assay results as they are received.”

Aside from diamond drilling on the Nama Creek claim block, phase two of the company's exploration program at Georgia Lake includes channel sampling along three other pegmatite dykes that contain historic lithium resources, known as the Newkirk, Line 60 and Conway blocks.

These lithium-bearing pegmatites are exposed at surface and, as a result, channel sampling is expected to help increase resources by tying up surface zones with the zones intersected in the shallowest drill hole on each dyke, Rock Tech said.

The next phase of the company’s exploration program, planned for the first or second quarter of 2012, will be designed to confirm the balance of the historic resource.

Rock Tech has already reported very high purity levels from the property earlier this year. In late September, the company achieved a purity level of 99.988% lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) from a bulk sample. Battery manufacturers require a purity level of at least 99.5% Li2CO3.
Rock Tech Lithium gets "buy" rating from Fundamental Research

Fundamental Research Corp. issued a "buy" rating on Rock Tech Lithium (CVE:RCK) with a fair value stock price of $0.35.

Rock Tech has a 100-percent interest in lithium properties in the Kapiwak Pegmatite Region in the James Bay area of northwestern Quebec, and the Georgia Lake area of the Thunder Bay Mining District of northwest Ontario.

In addition to its lithium properties, Rock Tech has a 100-percent interest in a titanium-iron-vanadium property in the Saint-Urbain area near the St. Lawrence Seaway in eastern Quebec and a nickel-copper-platinum group elements-uranium property in the Sibley Basin area to the west of Nipigon, Ontario.

In November, Rock Tech published a technical report that included a resource estimate for the Georgia Lake property in Ontario, stating an indicated resource of 2.36 million tonnes at 1.17 percent lithium oxide and an inferred resource of 4.36 million tonnes at 1.08 percent lithium oxide.

In a research note, Fundamental Research analyst Siddharth Rajeev said: "We are pleased to see that management is executing well on advancing the Georgia Lake property."

Fundamental Research said that the 2011/2012 drill program has commenced and will include a total of 10,000 metres of diamond drilling aimed to expand the current resource. An updated resource estimate is expected in the first quarter of 2012.

Test results from Georgia Lake earlier this year gave lithium purity levels of 99.963 percent. Following further processing, and refining with bi-carbonate polishing, the calcium content was reduced below the 100 parts per million threshold and the purity increased to 99.988 percent.

This is "very encouraging" as the sample exceeds the industry minimum specification for purity of 99.5 percent, Fundamental Research said.

Fundamental Research's Rajeev noted: "We believe establishing a good lithium carbonate grade is a positive step and will assist [the company] in establishing future off-take agreements, which is very critical for lithium companies in the exploration and development stage.

"The results confirm that the Nama Creek Main Zone deposit [within Georgia Lake] hosts an attractive resource.

The high grades and encouraging recovery rates will positively impact any future economic assessment of the project."

The Vancouver-based lithium exploration company currently has $3 million in cash.

Rock Tech Lithium (CVE:RCK) Wednesday announced an NI 43-101 complaint total indicated and inferred mineral resource estimate of 6.72 million tonnes grading 1.11 percent lithium oxide for its 100 percent-owned Georgia Lake project in Ontario.

In the indicated category, the resource holds 2.36 million tonnes at 1.17% lithium oxide and in the inferred category, the estimate was for 4.36 tonnes at 1.08% lithium oxide, Rock Tech said.

The resource report, based on the spodumene-bearing pegmatite dykes located on the Nama Creek and Conway claim blocks, has resulted in increases in both the tonnage and grade over historic estimates by 21 percent and 8 percent, respectively, the company added.

Rock Tech Lithium president and CEO, Eunho Lee, said: "The results of the initial NI 43-101 resource estimate bolsters our confidence in the historical exploration data. We are encouraged that the compliant resource is more than 20 percent larger than the historic resource.

"Our strategy now shifts towards expanding the resource at Georgia Lake, more specifically the Nama Creek claim block, and, beyond that, confirming the balance of the historic resource and completing a preliminary economic assessment.

"To that end, we have developed an exploration program, including both step-out and confirmatory drill holes, that we will begin executing in the fourth quarter of 2011."

The company has already reported very high purity levels from the property already this year. In late September, Rock Tech achieved a purity level of 99.988% lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) from a bulk sample. Battery manufacturers require a purity level of at least 99.5% Li2CO3.

Rock Tech's Lee said that Georgia Lake's high quality and purity lithium resource "should start drawing interest from battery manufacturers", especially among those who are concerned about supply surety of lithium carbonate.

Besides the battery industry, lithium has many uses, including heat-resistant glass and ceramics, casting for HVAC products, additives for greases and oil products, aluminum production, and as a pharmaceutical mood stabilizer.

Caracle Creek International compiled the NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate using 97 historical drill holes, in addition to 39 drill holes from the company’s 2009 and 2011 drill programs.

The historic resource on the Nama Creek and parts of the Conway claim blocks that were subject to the drill program completed in early 2011 contained 5.54 million tonnes, grading 1.03 percent lithium oxide of the total 9.78 million tonnes grading 1.18 percent lithium oxide.

The NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate on the same area contains 6.72 million tonnes grading 1.11 percent lithium oxide. The deposits remain open in all directions and at depth, and are currently being further explored.

Wednesday's resource estimate concentrated on the Nama Creek claim block with some drilling from the Conway block.

Speaking to Proactive Investors, Rock Tech's Lee said that the Conway claim block had an initial NI43-101 resource of 1,146,000 tonnes compared to a historic resource of 1,830,000 tonnes but expects an updated NI43-101 resource for Conway to be larger than the reported historic resource.

Rock Tech Lithium has already started Phase Two of its exploration program. The goal is to expand the resource by conducting step-out drilling on the Nama Creek claim block in addition to drilling confirmatory holes on strike extensions on known pegmatitie dykes on the property.

The company said a total of 10,000 metres of diamond core drilling will be performed during the program, which may also include holes to a depth of 600 metres. A drill contract for the first 4,000 metres has already been awarded to Cobra Drilling.

Lee said that at the conclusion of phases two and three of its drilling program "...we are targeting to have a NI 43-101 resource that is substantially higher than our initial NI 43-101 resource."

He also said that Phase Three of the company's drill program, planned for the first or second quarter of 2012, would likely focus on bringing all of the historic resources to NI43-101 standards.

The Georgia Lake lithium property, located some 145 kilometers northeast of the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario, consists of four claim blocks covering 11,481 hectares.

Rock Tech produces lithium carbonate at 99.988% purity from Georgia Lake

Rock Tech Lithium (CVE:RCK) announced late Wednesday it has achieved a purity level of 99.988% lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) from a bulk sample taken from its wholly owned Georgia Lake project in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

As announced in late June, preliminary results of the metallurgical sample testing produced a purity level of 99.963% Li2CO3. The sample was then processed through a bicarbonate polishing step, which produced the 99.988% purity.

Battery manufacturers require a purity level of at least 99.5% Li2CO3.

President and CEO, Eunho Lee, commented: "The study clearly demonstrates that a high-quality, battery-grade lithium carbonate product can be produced from the lithium-bearing pegmatites found at Rock Tech's Georgia Lake project."

In other news, Rock Tech also announced the drill results of the remaining 22 holes from its 2010/2011 winter exploration program, which completed nearly 8,000 metres of diamond drilling at the company's Nama Creek and Conway claim blocks.

At the Nama Creek North block, located on the northern end of the Georgia Lake property, assays returned 10.55 metres grading 1.22% lithium oxide (Li2O), as well as 458 parts per million (ppm) beryllium oxide (BeO) and 854 ppm rubidium oxide (Rb2O), in hole NC11-14.

On this same block, assays also returned 6.7 metres grading 1.39% Li2O, 423 ppm BeO, and 988 ppm Rb2O, in hole NC11-07.

On the Nama Creek South claim block, drilling intersected 12.75 metres grading 0.9% Li2O, 450 ppm BeO, and 790 ppm Rb2O, in hole NS11-01, and 4.12 metres at 1.37% Li2O, 459 ppm BeO, and 993 ppm Rb2O, in hole NS11-02.

Hole PL11-01, drilled on the Parole Lake claim block, found 6.29 metres at 2.0% Li2O, 400 ppm BeO, 563 ppm Rb2O, and 111 ppm niobium oxide (Nb2O5).

Meanwhile, on the Conway Main claim block, located to the east of Nama Creek, hole CW11-09 returned 10.25 metres of 0.9% Li2O, 315 ppm BeO, and 1,029 ppm Rb2O.

The Vancouver, B.C.-based company said it plans to release its initial NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate for the Nama Creek and Conway claim blocks in the coming weeks, with phase two drilling on the Georgia Lake property also expected to begin at that time.

Rock Tech Lithium (CVE:RCK) announced Thursday it entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with First Nations groups Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek (BNA), Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek (BZA), and Animbiigoo Zaagi’igan Anishinaabek (AZA), to discuss the development of the Georgia Lake lithium project.

The Georgia Lake lithium project is located in the Thunder Bay mining district of north western Ontario. Rock Tech has full ownership over the project's 11,481 hectares, all of which fall within the First Nations' traditional territories. A two kilometre-long stretch of road that accesses the Nama Creek claim block, however, runs through the BNA First Nations' reserve land.

The MOU will provide the framework for future negotiations regarding an Impacts and Benefits Agreement, and will define the benefits to both the First Nations groups and to Rock Tech, helping to mitigate any adverse impacts during the project's development.

"We have already established strong business relationships with the BNA, BZA and AZA leaders and communities and are very pleased to have reached an initial agreement on how we can further build and strengthen these relationships," said Rock Tech president and CEO, Eunho Lee.

"Fostering these relations is a core element to our business principal of developing sustainable projects that will provide long-term economic viability to the local and regional stakeholders."

Since Rock Tech initially began exploration on the Georgia Lake project in December 2009, the Vancouver, B.C.-based company has employed several First Nations members and has procured equipment and materials from First Nations organizations whenever feasible, it said.

The project has an historical resource of 9.8 million tons grading 1.18% lithium oxide, based on 33,000 metres of diamond drilling carried out in the late 1950s.

In late June, Rock Tech said that it produced lithium at the Georgia Lake project with purity levels of nearly 100%, without any optimization.

Rock Tech achieves near 100% lithium purity levels from Georgia Lake sample

Rock Tech Lithium (CVE:RCK) said Monday that it produced lithium with purity levels of nearly 100% without any optimization, results which formed part of metallurgical tests conducted on a bulk sample from its Georgia Lake lithium project in Ontario.

Lithium, a soft, silver-white metal, has several industrial applications, including heat-resistant glass and ceramics, alloys used in aircrafts, lithium batteries and lithium-ion batteries, which are used widely in portable consumer electronic devices such as mobiles and iPads.

Though specification for lithium carbonate purity varies among battery manufacturers, purity must meet or exceed a minimum of 99.5%.

Applying the standard hydrometallurgical flow sheet, without any optimization of the Georgia Lake bulk samples, the purity level of greater than 99.96% lithium carbonate that was achieved is an excellent result for the first attempt at production, Rock Tech said.

In addition to this stellar result, a high grade spodumene concentrate of 6.2% lithium oxide was achieved with a 75.5% spodumene recovery rate using heavy liquid separation. Using floatation testing, 6.2% spodumene concentrate was reached with an 81.5% recovery rate. Spodumene is a pyroxene minera and is a source of lithium.

“The preliminary metallurgical test results have exceeded our expectations," said company president and CEO, Eunho Lee.

"The results indicate, through a Heavy Liquid Separation operation, a highgrade concentrate with high rates of recovery can be generated, indicating the potential for significant savings on future capital and operating expenses.

"These results provide us with the platform upon which we can advance discussions with potential battery manufacturers."

Indeed, Rock Tech said that SGS Lakefield, who conducted the metallurgical tests, is completing process optimization and ongoing research that could result in potentially higher purity levels of lithium.

"The results of the metallurgical test marks the achievement of a major milestone for Rock Tech and its shareholders,” Lee added.

The bulk sample used for the test was approximately 800 kilograms, sent to the lab at the end of February. The sample was a mixture of blasted surface and drill core spodumene material from the Nama Creek Main Zone at Georgia Lake.

The company's 100% owned Georgia Lake lithium project is comprised of 64 mining claims and is located about 145 kilometres northeast of the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario. The project has an historical resource of 9.8 million tons grading 1.18% lithium oxide, based on 33,000 metres of diamond drilling carried out in the late 1950s.

Since the acquisition of the property in late 2009, Rock Tech has completed over 8,000 metres of drilling and conducted other ground exploration work, with a plan to bring the historical resource to current NI 43‐101- compliant standards, advancing the project to the feasibility stage.

Rock Tech Lithium says drilling at Georgia Lake property on track

Rock Tech Lithium (TSX-V: RCK; FSX: RJIA) said Tuesday that its drill program at its Georgia Lake property in northwest Ontario is progressing as scheduled.

Drilling was restarted after Christmas break on January 9. To date, a total of 11 holes have been drilled for 1,268 metres, of which three were completed before the break.

The company said that a second drill rig has been mobilized to the site to expedite drilling, which will be followed by a NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate in June. Rock Tech also said it is on target to complete 4,000 metres of diamond core drilling by the end of the month.

The company plans that bulk sample will be collected in the second week of February to test for the production of battery-quality lithium carbonate by the end of May this year.

In addition, the results of the environmental baseline study will be available by mid-February, Rock Tech said, and further environmental field work will be conducted in the spring.

"Most of the drill holes at Nama Creek and Conway [deposits at the project] were placed within close proximity of bearing pegmatite zones that were intersected in historical drill holes," said president and CEO Eunho Lee.

"We are very encouraged by the drill log data provided by CCIC as they confirm the historical drill core data from these areas. Pegmatite zone ranges in thickness from 2.85 metres to 21.08 metres, with spodumene content of <3% to 15%."

Spodumene is the world's most commonly mined lithium ore mineral. Canada-based Rock Tech explores and develop lithium mineral deposits and develops processes to purify lithium carbonate.

Aside from Georgia Lake, the company has lithium properties in the Kapiwak Pegmatite Region in the James Bay area of north western Quebec. It also has a 100% interest in a titanium-iron-vanadium property in Saint-Urbain in eastern Quebec, and a nickel-copper-platinum group elements, uranium property in the Sibley Basin area.
