WTI crude futures have rebounded from the initial selling pressure where lows of USD 90.63 were printed, the weakness mostly being attributed to USD strength, and trade in minor negative territory ahead of the NYMEX pit open.

A blast in Turkey overnight on the Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline has halted oil flow, according to Turkish energy ministry officials. Repairs on the pipeline are to be completed within 10 days.

Prices of spot supplies of LNG may fall as Japan restarts nuclear facilities and amid slumping seasonal demand according to Sanford C Bernstein & Co. 

Geopolitical News

Iran may consider nuclear downgrade in exchange for ending sanctions, according to a top Iranian diplomat. Elsewhere it was reported that Iran test fired a new version of the Fateh 110 missiles with a range of 300km, which is enough to strike Israel from the southern Iranian border. 

Corporate News

A top Canadian cabinet minister has blasted Enbridge's environmental record, casting more doubt on whether the company will be able to build a controversial pipeline from Alberta's oil sands to the Pacific coast. 

Noble Energy has entered a farm-out agreement with Falkland Oil & Gas Limited (FOGL) where the co. will gain a 35% stake in FOGL’s Southern Area licences and a 35% stake in the Northern Area licences, excluding the Loligo and Nimrod prospects.

Phillips 66 flared gas at its Rodeo oil refinery in California according to the California Emergency Management Agency.

Weather news

According to Weather Derivatives, temperatures in the US over the next 6-10 days are to be 2.5% higher, with particularly warm weather in the North-central area. Using data accurate as of the 3rd August 2012.

Tropical Storm Florence is 1485km west of the Cape Verde Islands and is moving towards the west at 20km/h with an increase in forward speed and is expected to become a tropical depression today according to the NHC.

Topical Storm Ernesto is expected to pass north of the coast of Honduras tonight, with tropical storm warnings issued according to the NHC.
