In pursuit of its goals, Red Rock Resources Plc follows varying strategies:

  • operating through exploration for, and exploiting of, mineral deposits,
  • through the acquisition and disposal of interests in actual or potential mineral deposits or companies holding them in exchange for cash, securities, or royalty and other deferred interests,

The principal operational focus of the Company in 2012 is gold exploration in Kenya, gold production in Colombia, and early stage iron ore exploration in Greenland.

Current Operations

GOLD

Kenya - Migori Gold Project

Highlights

  • Two Special Prospecting Licences (SPLs) covering 310 sq km in SW Kenya. Extends 63 km along the strike length of the Archean Migori Greenstone Belt
  • NI 43-101 Indicated Resource of 1.2m oz (0.25 g/t cutoff) of gold over the KKM, MK, Nyanza and Gori Maria prospects currently undergoing validation to JORC standard. 577,000 oz (0.5 g/t cutoff) of gold validated as a JORC resource at the KKM prospect
  • Plan for gold production at the Macalder Tailings: 1.3m t@1.7g/t for contained gold content of 68k oz (JORC Measured Resource). Mining license application near to submission
  • 2012: Commencement of pit optimisation studies on resource areas ahead of Bankable Feasibility Study

Migori Exploration

Since 2009, RRR has been actively exploring for gold and base metals across the entire extent of the licences in order to identify potential areas of high grade.

Exploratory Drilling:

1,500 metres of scout drilling (2009-2011); 8,000 metres of air core drilling (2011)

Geophysics:

Two airborne surveys (2010); the magnetic-radiometric survey covered the entire area of the two licences and the VTEM survey covered an approximate 20 sq km block over and around the Macalder area.

Future Programme

The main focus of activity in 2012 is on advancing the Macalder tailings dam towards production, based on the results of the scoping study.

RRR aims to increase the gold resources through exploration of grassroots and anomalous targets, and advancing these targets to the stages of ore delineation.

Colombia - El Limon Gold Mine

Red Rock owns 50.5% of Colombian gold miner Mineras Four Points SA (“MFP”) and retains an option over a further 1%. Red Rock initially lent $2m to, and entered into a consultancy agreement with MFP. The loan and consultancy agreement have a 3 year life.

MFP owns and has rightsover two gold mines in Antioquia, El Limon and El Mango (La Aurora). El Limon has a history of high grade production and is over 350m deep covering 7 levels. El Mango has recently started producing ore for production at the El Limon plant. A recently completed refurbishment of the 150t/day plant at El Limon has seen the start of operations, and production building up towards rated capacity.

Iron Ore

Greenland (Melville Bugt) Project

Highlights

  • Drilling currently underway at Melville Bugt
  • The aim of the 2012 programme is to define a JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate for one or more of the Melville Bugt target areas
  • 1, 013 Km2 NAMA Greenland Ltd. license (plus 558Km2 under application)
  • The 2011 reconnaissance program found that banded to massive haematite iron formations were encountered in a number of areas. High-grade magnetite iron formations also identified
  • Potential geological correlations with Baffinland Iron Mine’s Mary River Project, Canada

2012

The 2012 exploration programme is anticipated to run from late-May until early-October and will combine groundwork with an up to 5,000-6,000m-drill programme. Cartwright Drilling Inc., who have extensive experience on Arctic drill programmes in Isua and Skaergaard, have been engaged to provide drilling services to the field programme. The drill programme will use two heli-portable diamond drill rigs, initially for exploration drilling to test iron formation occurrences.

This will be followed by delineation drilling in key areas of potential defined by the exploration drill phase. Core will be logged onsite by Company geologists along with preliminary geochemical analysis using a handheld XRF. Magnetic susceptibility of core will also be measured onsite using a hand held magnetic susceptibility meter. The split core will then be transported to ALS's OMAC Laboratories Ltd. in Ireland for assay and metallurgical test work including major oxide, Fe, FeO and S analysis, magnetic susceptibility and magnetic content.

Following successful sampling results from the 2011 reconnaissance program, the first drill target of the drill programme is at the Havik East Prospect, testing banded iron formations outcropping over a 2.5km strike length with a view to obtaining a maiden JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate.

A logistical and drilling strategy has been devised to maximise the length of the field season, with drilling expected to proceed from early June to end September.

Uranium & Rare Earths

The Company considers the long term prospects for uranium and rare earth elements (REEs) to be strong, and there is a need for a greater geographical diversity of source.

Red Rock Resources Plc remains in the pursuit of uranium through their 26.9% stake in Australian exploration company, Resource Star Ltd (ASX:RSL). RSL ‘s main projects are the Joint Ventures with Globe Metals and Mining (ASX : GBE) on the Livingstonia Uranium Project and Machinga Rare Earths Project in Malawi, the 100%-owned Edith River Uranium Project in the Northern Territory and the Spinifex Joint Venture with Thundelarra Resources (ASX : THX) in Western Australia.

The exploration at Livingstonia is managed by Resource Star, while Globe is running the Machinga program. Resource Star has a right to earn-in to 80% of the Livingstonia Project, which has been the subject of over 12,000m drilling and has a JORC compliant Inferred Resource of 7.7 million tonnes averaging 270 ppm U3O8 at a cut-off of 150ppm U3O8. Lastly the intended acquisition of a shareholding in Cue Resources, conditional on shareholder approval, will give Resource Star a stake in an Indicated & Inferred Resource of 10.1Mt at 430 ppm U3O8.
