Press: Miners rose on a two-week high for copper. Merrill Lynch once again encouraged the miners to return surplus cash to shareholders, which it estimated at up to $120bn among the UK-listed big four. A return of up to 30 per cent of the sector?s market capitalisation would boost corporate earnings by between 20 per cent and 50 per cent, Merrill said. ?Companies have started to listen to investors on capital returns versus investment,? said Merrill. ?The next step is to move to appropriate gearing levels and remove surplus capital from the businesses, driving returns to equity shareholders. In our view, a material re-rating awaits the first miner that dares to take up the torch.? Source - Financial Times

During the six month period the company has increased capacity by 60 places to 2,116 with occupancy levels being maintained at 92 per cent in established services and 87pc including facilities being developed. Press: 27.03.12: -37.25, (65.75) Press: CPP fell as its shares resumed trading, having been suspended in February amid uncertainty caused by a regulatory probe into its business practices.The company said yesterday that the investigation by the Financial Services Authority was continuing despite striking an agreement with the regulator last month to make a number of changes to its renewals process and review its past business. The company said it was making good progress in improving its business practices and customer relations. However, investors were disappointed by a 29pc drop in annual profits to GBP28.3m.
