Current Operations

Avia Health Informatics provides rapid, safe assessment and advice for primary, ambulatory and urgent care through Odyssey, our pre-diagnosis clinical decision support software. Developed by our wholly owned subsidiary Plain Healthcare, Odyssey is fast, user friendly, clinically thorough and safe; it also improves record keeping. Odyssey is proven to improve the efficiency of clinical resources, reduce risk and ultimately save money.

Odyssey : ultimate decision support

Genuinely unique, Odyssey works like no other clinical decision support software. Clinicians follow their normal consultation methods and always retain full control. It encourages open questioning of the patient, presenting all details gathered throughout the assessment. Data may be added in any order, to suit the specific needs of each consultation.

Odyssey Products

Odyssey TeleAssess

Designed for telephone-based clinical assessment, triage, advice and referral, Odyssey TeleAssess, formerly known as TAS, is used across the world by healthcare professionals in a variety of primary and emergency care settings: physician answering services, ambulance services, health advice lines, healthcare insurance and services designed to improve access to healthcare for under-served communities.

Odyssey FaceToFace

State-of-the-art clinical decision support software for use with patient consultations in person. Assistance with history taking, examinations, results recording and the development of care plans and electronic patient records. Used by doctors, all grades of nurse, nurse practitioners and EMTs in a variety of clinic settings and home visits.

Odyssey Reception

Safe patient prioritization for non-clinicians, either as call handlers or receptionists. Empowers non-clinicians to sort levels of urgency and rules based alerts flag potentially serious conditions rapidly, without compromising patient safety. Details are automatically passed to Odyssey TeleAssess or FaceToFace to speed up clinical consultations.

Odyssey SelfAssess

Designed to enable patients to assess their own needs quickly and safely, instead of or before consulting a health professional. In addition to providing patients with access to appropriate self care advice, Odyssey SelfAssess provides actionable clinical summaries for health professionals, so shortening consultation times while ensuring that all pertinent data is available for safe diagnosis.

Odyssey FirstAssess

Specifically designed CDS for use in prisons and other detention centers to improve healthcare in challenging environments and drastically reduce the costs of referral (e.g. to hospital emergency departments), Odyssey FirstAssess provides standardized reception assessment frameworks with full decision support. Ensures all staff adhere to uniformly high and consistent standards of care and documentation, regardless of experience.

Odyssey MarineAssess

Specifically designed clinical decision support for the shipping industry and vessels travelling internationally ensuring the best possible care at all times, even when very remote or far from shore.

Odyssey MarineAssess supports the assessment and treatment of any condition presented on board, supporting the captain or master to ensure the most appropriate care pathways are followed.

Genuinely unique, Odyssey works like no other clinical decision support software. Clinicians follow their normal consultation methods and always retain full control. It encourages open questioning of the patient, presenting all details gathered throughout the assessment. As well as supporting decisions in tele-triage and patient consultation in person, Odyssey also supports non-clinician patient encounters and patient self assessment.

Odyssey is web-deployed and auto-updates with the latest clinical and technical upgrades, so users benefit from always being up to date and safe in their practice. It can be hosted locally or externally, even in the ‘Cloud’. It has the highest security standards to protect patient and user data integrity and is designed to be inter-operable with most EMRs and other medical systems.

Odyssey empowers clinicians of all experience levels to deliver faster, safer patient assessments and provide up-to-date, validated patient advice. It generates efficiency savings by reducing the time required for key functions, by minimising clinical risk and by improving documentation. More patients may be assessed for lower cost.

Appropriate for use by nurses, doctors, physician assistants, paramedics, EMTs and other practitioners, Odyssey will empower them to deliver consistently high standard work. Odyssey is used mainly pre-diagnosis for all types of acute, undiagnosed, undifferentiated presenting problem in a wide variety of clinical settings:

  • Tele-triage
  • 911 and Emergency
  • Improving access to healthcare, especially for under-served communities
  • Medical insurance providers
  • Primary, urgent and ambulatory care clinics
  • Jails and detention centers
  • Telemedicine
  • Employer programs, such as sickness absence management or workers’ compensation schemes
