Avia Health Informatics, the maker of clinical decision software and systems, has appointed two resellers in Nigeria. They are AB Informatics and DeMiTAG Health Concepts, who will sell the company’s Odyssey diagnostics range.

The specialist software group has won three new NHS contracts and it is confident that the governments Comprehensive Spending Review opens up new market opportunities. Avia’s expanding UK client base, its international expansion and a pipeline of new products are helping it meet its challenges in the short term.

The group has won a European shipping group Intresco as a partner for trialling the first product in the Odyssey MobileAssess range - designed to remotely assess the condition of an ill or injured crew member. Chairman Barry Giddings calls the development "a quantum leap".

Who uses Odyssey?
Odyssey TeleAssess (often referred to as ‘TAS’) is used by the leading GP Out of Hours services in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands. It supports nurse telephone triage and the provision of up to date advice. It’s used by GP surgeries in-hours to efficiently manage demand as it is by ambulance services. Internationally, it’s also used by health insurance companies.
Odyssey FaceToFace is used by NHS Walk-in Centres, primary care centres and practices staffed by varying grades of nurse. It supports patient consultations in person through assessment, examination, documentation and care management plans.

Over twenty-five years experience at director level, including Chairman and CEO, in public and private companies in different market sectors, including Highcare Group plc and Antares/Harrison Industries plc. Significant skills in company turnarounds, acquisitions, change management and restructuring to maximise shareholder value. Hands-on experience in all disciplines and team development. Rapid contribution to new and complex situations, plus the ability to deliver successful projects. Experience in Structured Funding. 
Finance Director: Nigel Leavy FCA
Over twenty-five years of expertise in guiding private companies through corporate recovery, M&A and post acquisition strategy implementation. He has served as Non-Executive Director at Safe Consulting Group, Lancashire Enterprise Investment, SCC Limited and the FTSE listed Torex Healthcare Plc eight years before it merged with iSoft. He currently serves as Chairman of Advanced Fibreoptic Engineering and AFE Technology Coatings Ltd.
Nigel will be joining the board on the completion of fund-raising.

Clinical Director: Professor Jeremy Dale
MA Cambridge; MB BA Middlesex Hospital Medical School, London; PhD London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners; Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology; Diploma of Child Health of the Royal College of Paediatrics
Following undergraduate studies at Cambridge and London universities, Jeremy undertook vocational training in Oxford before being appointed as a GP Clinical Lecturer, and later a Senior Clinical Lecturer, at King’s College London. While at King’s, he led a landmark research study describing the clinical and cost effectiveness of GPs working in emergency departments which had a major influence on health policy. He also led research projects investigating out of hours care and telephone advice, one of which led to the design and initial evaluation of TAS (the forerunner of Odyssey TeleAssess).
Appointed as a Professor at Warwick University in 1997, Jeremy was one of the first clinical academics to be appointed by the University, and has played a leading role in establishing primary care research and teaching within the new Medical School. In addition, he continues to work one day a week as a GP to ensure that he maintains competencies as a clinician. In 2008, he joined the Plain Healthcare board as its Clinical Director.

Non-Executive Director: Roger Lane-Smith
Roger was Senior Partner and Chairman of globe law firm DLA Piper from 1998 to 2005 and was appointed Senior Consultant to the practice in May 2005. He is a Non-executive Director of WH Ireland Group Plc. He is also a Non-executive Director of MS International, Dolphin Capital Investors, Timpsons and a number of other non-quoted companies.
