Big picture - Why invest in Forbidden Technologies plc

Forbidden Technologies plc Snapshot

Founded by Stephen Streater in 1998, Forbidden Technologies is based on a 20-year heritage in video and broadcast technologies.

FORscene, Forbidden's flagship product, is the world's most advanced web-based editing system. Simple enough for producers and directors, yet responsive enough for editors, FORscene enables professionals to collaborate on video projects anytime, anywhere.

AIM listed since February 2000, we aim to create value for our shareholders by continually working to develop and enhance our product portfolio. This allows us to take advantage of what our target markets, customers and prospects need, thus developing the profile, appeal and uptake of Forbidden Technologies products.

FORscene

FORscene provides professional editing tools in a SaaS (Software as a Service) package for all video industries including Broadcast post production, News and Corporate Professional environments.

FORscene’s video platform allows you to take advantage of Cloud computing by enabling the centralisation of material and collaboration in workflows.

SaaS with flexible monthly pricing through seat licences offers significant savings in time and budgets.

FORscene enables:

  • Management of media through an online directory
  • Connection through any web browser from anywhere
  • Monitoring usage to ensure productivity
  • Control of access to media via individual user settings
  • Savings in training time and storage costs

Osprey Video Codec

Forbidden Technologies launched its Osprey video codec at IBC2009.

Osprey is the first FORscene codec to support loss free video compression: broadcasters can use the output from FORscene for transmission without using any other editing software. Videos may also be edited at browse quality, with extra information transferred when the video is conformed to bring the source up to broadcast quality. This minimises internet traffic and delay.

The Osprey upgrade is the latest in a range of video codecs specifically designed for editing on the Web. It increases the range of video qualities available in FORscene. Forbidden believes that this is the first practical implementation of a broadcast quality editing service over the Web.

FORscene Load

Forbidden’s downloadable software for uploading video content into your FORscene account runs on Mac, PC and Linux.

FORscene Load compresses your video before uploading to FORscene, accelerating upload by up to 20x. FORscene Load - Linux is offered as a dedicated hardware and software solution, guaranteeing real-time capture and compression along with DVD and file capture. To download a copy of FORscene Load Pro contact Forbidden.

FORscene Server

FORscene Server allows you to scale up the number of FORscene users on your local network without overburdening its internet link.

Review, log and edit material using only your high speed LAN. In addition to all of the features of the FORscene Load Linux appliance, local users can begin working with rushes within seconds of the start of ingest.

FORscene remains an access-anywhere system. Video is transferred as required between your FORscene Server and Forbidden’s Cloud network seamlessly, automatically and on-demand, with edits and metadata instantly synchronised. In this way, both upstream and downstream internet bandwidth usage is minimised.

Our customers in news broadcasting and at production houses find FORscene Server a cost effective way to facilitate large projects.

Clesh

Clesh offers a fully interactive consumer web-based editing package that lets novices become ‘prosumers’. It’s easy to use and video can be shared across multi-media devices via a secure log-in.

Clesh is available as a plug in service for video portals. By adding your own brand and library you can provide configurable editing and publishing functionality as part of your site, at a fraction of the cost of developing your own solution. Content moderation is supported as a workflow option.

The main features of Clesh are:
  • Upload video from your computer or mobile
  • Simple to use, easy to learn
  • Storyboard and timeline editing
  • Access anywhere, anytime
  • Frame accurate
  • Real time cuts, fades and dissolves
  • Video and audio levels
  • Subtitles, pan & zoom
